Obituary of Charles R. Edminster
Charles R. Edminster, 91, of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 under the care of the wonderful staff and nurses at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, NY.
He was born on December 7, 1932 in Montour Falls to Russell and Carrie (Foster) Edminster. Charlie "Bud" served with the United States Navy from 1951-1955, working as a Chief Gunners Mate during the Korean War. After serving in the Navy, he worked at Shepherd Niles for 41 years before retiring in 1992 to enjoy traveling with his wife. Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting guns and knives. He could often be found in his chair, with a dog in his lap enjoying western shows or drinking his homemade wine at his basement poker parties.
He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Dickens, daughter-in-law, Greta (Yeaples) Edminster and brother LeRoy Edminster.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patricia (Rolls) Edminster; his daughter Gail (Dan) Franzese; sons Jeffrey Edminster, Steve Edminster, Mike (Linda) Edminster, and Scott Edminster; brother, Don(Donna) Edminster; sister-in-law, Lyla Edminster; and great friends Jack and Peggy. Charlie also had 10 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and even a couple great great grandchildren!
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, March 18, 2024 from 11:00 am-12:00 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. His funeral will begin at 12:00 pm followed by burial with military honors in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
