Obituary of Lois F. Drake

Lois Fay Drake, 83, of Odessa, New York, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 with her family at her side. She was born on December 24, 1939 to Earl W. Dean and Lillian R. (Carrigan) Dean. She graduated from Watkins Glen Central School in 1956. Lois was married to James R. Drake, Sr. on June 11, 1959. She worked in banking for 23 years at Tompkins Trust in Odessa. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Odessa Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. Lois's favorite hobby was supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their activities. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, James Drake in 2021; her daughter Tammi L. (Drake) Peterson in 2010; and great grandson Colson James Thompson in 2018. She is survived by: one daughter, Wendy (Steve) Weber of Elmira, NY; two sons: James R. Drake, Jr. of Odessa, NY, and Mike (Elaine) Drake of Scotia, NY; son-in-law O. Kenneth Peterson of Burdett, NY; four grandchildren: Ella Faye Drake, Kevin Weber, Matthew Peterson, and Megan (Weber) Thompson; four great grandchildren: Paige Weber, Mallory Weber, Kase Thompson, and Clara Thompson. Lois was one of thirteen siblings and is survived by one brother, Joel (Kathy) Dean of Parish, NY; by many nieces and nephews along with a special cousin Sandy Gunning. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 2-3 pm. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Odessa.
