Obituary of N. June Benjamin

N. June Benjamin, 88, of Montour Falls, NY passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Arnot Ogden Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Montour Falls, New York on November 28, 1934, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Thurston) Cope. June graduated from Odessa Central School in 1954. She later graduated from Elmira Business Institute in 1982. She was married to Robert Benjamin on October 11, 1954 in Odessa, NY. She was a homemaker for 68 years. June was a member of the Montour Falls United Methodist Church. She was actively involved in the church, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She did literacy tutoring for a few years. She was also involved in her children's lives as a Boy Scout Troop Leader and a member of the PTA. June loved singing, crocheting, and spending time with her loved ones. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Doris; brother, Kenneth; and grandson Ryan Gregory. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Benjamin; three daughters, Kimberley Scott (Tony), Montour Falls, NY, Jenny Benjamin-Rider (John), Richmond, ME, and Sue Gale, Horseheads, NY; four sons, Jeffrey (Kelly), Manchester, CT, Kenneth (Carletta), Colchester, CT, David (Jill), Elmira, NY, and Timothy (Michelle), Montour Falls, NY; two sisters, E. Arlene Learn, Catharine, NY and Sandra Bates, Odessa, NY; sister-in-law, Teresa (Filippetti) Cope; eight grandchildren, Louie, Erin, Cassie, Jackie, Amanda, Carlyle, Daniel, and Matthew; three great-grandchildren, Kelan, Zoe, and Hudson; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life for June will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Montour Falls United Methodist Church, 124 Owego Street, Montour Falls. Private burial will be in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Montour Falls United Methodist Church, 124 Owego Street, Montour Falls, NY 14865 or the Schuyler County Humane Society, 124 Marina Drive, Montour Falls, NY 14865.
