Obituary of Ron Ayers

Ron “Thumbsy” Ayers, age 67,of Montour Falls, NY passed away on Friday, December 30th, 2022. Thumbsy was born in Montour Falls, NY on August 12th, 1955, the son of the late Janet and Daniel Ayers. He graduated from Watkins Glen High School and married Denise Dabich at Shequaga Falls. He retired from Odessa-Montour School after 14 years of service and was a 25 year employee of Jeff’s Septic Inc. Thumbsy was a member of the Mechanics Club and Montour Moose Club and a past member of both the Montour Falls Fire Dept. and Odessa Fire Dept. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bowling and golfing, and attending local sporting events. Ron also loved the New York Yankees and Notre Dame Fighting Irish College football. Thumbsy is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Denise (Dabich) Ayers; his beloved cat, Rosie; sister, Kathy Dunn of Watkins Glen; brother, Gary Ayers of Delhi and Don (Becky) Ayers of Montour Falls; in laws- Leonard (Mary) Dabich, Julie (Eric) Anderson, Kelly (Duane) Ayers, Len (Pam) Dabich; his special nieces, Amber Pratt, Nichole Inthanongsak, Rebecca Ayers, Whitney Ayers, Bethany Dabich, and Ella Ayers; special nephews, Jeremiah Ayers, Andy Chrisman, Jeremy Dunn, and Joseph Dabich; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends and family may call from 11am to 1pm and 4 pm to 7pm on Thursday, January 5th, 2023 at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY 14865. His funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 6th, 2023 at 11am, with Jeremiah Ayers officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Watkins Glen, NY.
