Obituary of Robert Harris

Type Obit Here Harris, Robert E. Age 88 of Odessa, New York passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born on September 13, 1923 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Earl and Myrtle Harris. Staff Sgt. Robert E. Harris served in the US Air Force from 01/1943-09/1945. He was a Waist Gunner on a B-24 Bomber named "Incendiary Sue" and flew 30 Missions over the Pacific. He received the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf. Robert was a member of the Mechanics Club and enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Doane's Tavern. His was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Verle V. Harris, brother, Earl (Herkie) Harris and is first wife Arleen W. Storch. Robert is survived by his children, Jeffrey Harris of Alpine, NY. Beth (Mike) Rounds of Montour Falls, NY, Bonnie Hayes of Elmira, NY, Lynette (Ron) Ratliff of Churchill, TN, Terry Harris of Elmira, NY, Jeannie (Fred) Rundle of Duluth, GA, Sandy Stillman of Montour Falls, NY, and Fred (Sharon) Fitch of Watkins Glen, NY. There are 15 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild. Relative and friends are invited to call at the Vedder and Scott, Inc. Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY on Tuesday June 26, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM and again on Wednesday, June 27th from 12 Noon to 1 PM followed by his funeral service at 1 PM.
