Obituary of Mary Ann Zinger

Mary Ann Zinger, 79, of Utica, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 after a long illness. She was born in Utica, NY on May 13, 1943, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Tobin) Kelliher. She graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in 1961 and MVCC in 1963. Mary Ann married her husband of 38 years, Richard C. Zinger on October 1, 1966. Mary Ann was secretary in the guidance department at Proctor Senior High School in Utica for 21 years. Prior to working at the school, she worked at Faxton Hospital in Utica for several years. Mary Ann was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Church (Our Lady of Lourdes Campus) in Utica. She was a member and former officer of Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Chapter 17, Lady of Knock, and a member of the Catholic Women's Club. She is survived by her children, Andrew (Robin) Zinger of Liverpool, Mary Crysler of Syracuse, Thomas Zinger of Wake Forest, NC and David (Tiffany) Zinger of Montour Falls; grandchildren, Rev. Daniel Zinger, Adam (Anna Taylor) Zinger, Benjamin Zinger, Jordyn, Noah and Madisyn Crysler, Emily Zinger (Jaycie Staples), Andrew, Ethan and Kinsley Zinger, Clayton, Moe and Everly Zinger; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and devoted friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard C. Zinger in 2005 and by her brothers, Thomas Kelliher in 2003 and Jack Kelliher in 2016. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 1-4 pm at Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, 1122 Culver Ave. in Utica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno and her grandson, Rev. Daniel Zinger, on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Church, 2222 Genesee St., Utica (Our Lady of Lourdes Campus). Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Mary Ann's name may be made to Mary, Mother of Our Savior Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
