Obituary of Jeffrey L. Howell

Jeffrey Leonard Howell, born May 30, 1961, passed away March 5, 2022, after a lengthy stay in the CTICU of UPMC Presby hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, wife, Linda, by his side. Jeff's love for music started at a young age when a family friend introduced him to the guitar. In high school, Jeff played tuba in the Newfield High School band. His band director was a big influence in his life. He progressed to playing professionally and traveling world-wide, as bass guitarist for legendary national acts, Foghat, The Outlaws, Savoy Brown and others. He also had several of his own bands, recorded on numerous albums and instructed on bass. In addition to his wife Linda, Jeff is survived by daughter Casey and son-in-law, Jullian Demunn; his son, Cory Heitger and future daughter-in-law, Juliette Dihn; seven grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; Alex, Ella, Liam, Jullian Jr., Tristan, Aria and Aleeah; mother, Sandra Hunter Howell Brown; father and step mother, Robert & Evey Howell; and two brothers and sisters in law, Robert Jr. and Regine and James and Linda Howell. Over the past two decades, Jeff's health declined as a result of chronic Lyme disease, and many physical and neurological issues from it. However his death followed a month plus battle of embolisms as a result of untreated kidney cancer and bleeding complications that eventually resulted in heart failure. Jeff fought the fight like he played bass, but it was just too much. He will be missed by many. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 4-7 pm and Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 12:30-2:00 pm at the Montour Falls United Methodist Church, 128 Owego St., Montour Falls. His funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm followed by a reception. Donations accepted at the church or through GoFundMe "Help the Howells"
