Obituary of Laurie L. Banker

Laurie (Sample) Banker, 66, of Painted Post, NY passed away, in her sleep, in her home on December 8, 2021. Laurie grew up in Montour Falls, NY and later lived in Corning, Watkins, Hornell and Painted Post. Laurie was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend. Laurie was born February 7, 1955 to Frank and Lorraine Sample of Montour Falls. She was predeceased by her parents, older sister Susan, and baby nephew Billy. Laurie is survived by her children Frank Barra, Tony Barra and Christa Barra (Scott Evans); Grandchildren Braxton, Brody and Paige; her younger sister Kathy Sample; nephews Jeffrey, Rich, Ben, Raymond, Phillip, and Daniel, and nieces JoLyn and Kelli. Laurie was devoted to her family and never stopped talking about her love for, and pride in, her children. Laurie attended elementary school in Montour Falls and Jr/Sr High at OMCS in Odessa, graduating in 1973. She had a beautiful singing voice and performed in several musicals at OMCS. As a teenager she had a horse, aptly named Dynamite. Laurie most loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a homemaker for many years and retired in 2016. Her most recent employment was at Famous Brands in Watkins Glen. Laurie was loved by so many and will be deeply missed. At her request there will not be any calling hours or funeral service. The family wishes to thank all who loved and supported Laurie throughout her life.
